With any children, but especially little children, running around the house, the thought of creating a romantic atmosphere just doesn't come. Understandably! So, I've listed a few quick and easy things that could make Feb. 14 a little more interesting for you and your spouse.
Plan in advance to have a simple dinner for just the two of you (while the kids are in bed). Even though you might love to cook, he doesn't care about food. What he wants is time with you. So order something in or better yet thaw you've been saving in the freezer. Make dinner easier and clean-up a breeze - use disposable plates and utensils. Purchase some strawberries and get some Bakers dipping chocolate. It's so easy to use. Just melt in microwave in the container is comes in and dip your fruit. No need for pre-dipped strawberries - remember he's not looking of anything fancy.
Now, since you are not stressed out about the kids and bedtime, let's get ready! Be sure your bed is made and the room is clean/straightened. Go ahead and put the strawberries along with the drink of your choice in the bedroom. This way you won't have to carry a dozen things upstairs with you. Remember to shut the door. You don't want pets or kids getting in there and eating up all the fruit.
Put on something clean. I know it sounds silly, but we all know what a day with small children can do to a nice sweater. It doesn't have to be a sexy negligee or your best dress, but it should be something that doesn't have stains from food or other bodily functions! Brush that mom hair and just a touch of lipstick makes a whole new look!
When you husband comes home and you've got the kids in bed, all you have to do is eat dinner, carry that warm chocolate upstairs and have a calm, relaxing evening together.
Hey, why wait till Valentines Day? Why not surprise him tonight?
